Roof insulations

For an insulation that lasts for many years you can choose between two effective solutions:

a) insulation with tar paper or b) insulation with HYPERDESMO elastic membrane.

Specifically, HYPERDESMO is an elastic polyurethane membrane which dries quickly without creating any bubbles and it is highly recommended for making the roof water resistant.

On the other hand, the tar paper is a membrane which is consists of specially processed tar paper, surrounded with polymeric materials for larger capabilities and usually coated with slate flakes for protection.

It is an ideal material for both insulation and for waterproofing of the roof.

The tar paper is widely used because it combines economy and reliability and also lasts for many years.

To apply the tar paper first we have to clean and dry the surface. Then we check the leveling of the roof and wherever is necessary we make repairs by using cement.

After that we lay a layer of tar to create a base coat. Then we heat the tar paper with a blowtorch and stick them to the surface.

Finally, where joints are formed, they are heated again with a blowtorch and sealed to make proper bonding.

Tar paper achieves a greater membrane thickness while HYPERDESMO offers a single waterproofing membrane without joints.

It is important to note that these options are only for waterproofing and do not provide heat insulation, which is possible by adding heat reflecting materials such as DOW.
